Steadfast is the will of all the people to raise the enthusiasm for supporting the rural areas with the rice-transplanting as a momentum and thus encourage the officials and working people in the agricultural field and dynamically open up a new phase of upsurge in the development of the state, says Rodong Sinmun, and goes on:

Agriculture is the great foundation of the country and the present struggle for farming is a nationwide and all-people struggle waged through the participation and devoted contribution of not only the agricultural field but also all sectors, units and citizens. Only when all the people regard farming as an important issue related to their destiny and development of the country and are voluntarily and actively engaged in the support of the rural areas with responsible manner, can they fully solve the food problem by remarkably increasing the agricultural productive forces, defend everything precious on this land and double the driving force of the revolution.

Rice transplanting is the most laborious farming work of the year and the rice transplanting season is an important period decisive of the success of the year's farming.

The historic 7th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea set the issue of farming as a core agenda and set forth the tasks for effectively organizing labour and material assistance of the state from sowing to transplanting, weeding and harvesting this year. True to the intention of the Party Central Committee, active assistance to the rural areas has been given since the beginning of this year.

We are now faced with the difficult and heavy task of successfully finishing rice-transplanting at the right time.
