Premier Kim Tok Hun Inspects Different Sectors
Pyongyang, May 16 (KCNA) -- Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet, inspected various sectors.

Going round farms in Singye and Sohung counties of North Hwanghae Province and Pongchon, Paechon, Yonan and Chongdan counties of South Hwanghae Province, the premier learned in detail about the immediate farming progress.

He called upon the officials and working people in the agricultural sector to fulfill their responsibility and role as the masters in the agricultural production of the granary area of the country, bearing in mind the intention of the Party which set the attaining of the goal of grain production as the first target of 12 major goals for national economic development.

He underscored the need to take scientific and technological measures for improving the nutrition of earlier crops in a timely way to raise the per-hectare yield to the maximum, and to concentrate efforts on finishing the rice-transplanting in a qualitative way in the right time and readjust and reinforce and further perfect the irrigation system so that cities and counties can cope with forecasted disastrous weather.

At the Taean Heavy Machine Complex, he stressed the need for the officials and workers to produce and supply custom-built equipment needed for various sectors of the national economy in time, mindful of the importance of their duty in implementing the resolutions of the Sixth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK.

Learning about the operation of Nampho Port, he underlined the need to raise the operation rate of harbour cranes and other equipment so as to ensure full promptness in handling freights.

The field consultative meetings took measures after discussing the issue of intensifying the agricultural guidance organs' scientific and technological guidance over farming, the issue of giving priority to supplying farming materials to the countryside and the issue of improving the quality in the production of custom-built equipment by strengthening ties with relevant research institutes.
