Major Projects Accelerated at Metal and Chemical Industries of DPRK
Pyongyang, May 16 (KCNA) -- Officials and workers of the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex in the DPRK are speeding up a project for installing an oxygen converter, which is of great significance in consolidating the foundation for iron and steel production, true to the resolutions of the Sixth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.

The complex set stepwise goals for successfully completing the project at the fixed date, in close contact with officials of the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry and gave priority to the supply of manpower, equipment and materials.

The task for assembling the frame of an oxygen converter was finished in a short span of time and the assembly of various systemic equipment was hastened in full swing.

After successfully carrying out no-load test operation of the systemic equipment, the complex is now directing efforts to ensuring the first firing of the oxygen converter.

The Namhung Youth Chemical Complex, too, has made progress in the efforts to expand the gas cleaning process, which is of weighty significance in putting the fertilizer production on a normal footing.

Thanks to the devoted efforts of its officials, technicians and workers, guarantee was provided for completing the project ahead of schedule.
