DPRK Premier Inspects Agricultural Sector

Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- Premier Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, inspected the agricultural sector of North and South Hwanghae provinces and Kaesong City. At farms in Paechon, Yonan, Kangryong, Ongjin, Jangyon, Suan, Thosan, Singye, Kumchon and Jangphung counties and other areas, the premier met agricultural workers devoting themselves to the struggle for attaining this year's goal of grain production, true to the resolutions of the 7th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the WPK, to learn in detail about the immediate farming. He urged the agricultural officials to deeply understand again the importance of their duty in this year's farming and give responsible guidance to farming according to the processes while positively arousing the revolutionary enthusiasm of the masses. He stressed the need for the farms to concentrate all efforts on finishing the rice-transplanting in the right time and in a qualitative way, manure and tend earlier crops including wheat, barley and potatoes well so as to maximize their yield and make full preparations for harvesting. He called for making disastrous weather phenomena a fait accompli and steadily perfecting the irrigation system to cope with them, taking thorough measures for irrigation of crops and widely introducing advanced farming methods to decisively increase the grain production. The field consultative meetings discussed the issue for officials of agricultural guidance organs at all levels to conduct in a sci-tech way the farming operations and guidance for implementing the Party's agricultural policy, the issue for prospectively pushing ahead with the work to select and actively introduce seeds suited to the geographical features and climatic conditions and other issues. Meanwhile, the premier went round the construction site for desalting Lake Kangryong to learn about the problems arising in the project and take relevant measures. |
