Progress Made in Metal Industry of DPRK
Pyongyang, June 14 (KCNA) -- Officials and workers in the metallurgical industry of the DPRK strive to consolidate the Korean-style iron production foundation, true to the resolutions of the Sixth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.

The Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex is stepping up the construction of a new type energy-saving oxygen heat blast furnace at its final stage.

After grasping the operation state of equipment, its officials have taken measures to ensure its successful general test run. Scientists and technicians have conducted a campaign to solve the sci-tech problems arising in the operation of the furnace in a timely way.

The Chollima Steel Complex launched a campaign to install more continuous casting machines.

Leading officials of the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry and the complex are supplying materials and equipment in a responsible manner in cooperation with relevant units to ensure that the project proceeds without delay. In particular, they encourage technicians and skilled workers to come up with more technical innovation proposals conducive to the successful completion of the project by organizing a mass technical innovation movement.

Officials and workers of the Unryul Mine are pushing ahead with the project for developing the Sohaeri branch mine at the final stage.
