Pyongyang, June 26 (KCNA) -- "Song of National Defence" is the first wartime song which resounded before any songs when the Fatherland Liberation War broke out. The song was created in March Juche 39 (1950) three months before the outbreak of the war. It inspired the people and the service personnel of the People's Army to the sacred war of defending the fatherland against the U.S. imperialists who invaded the DPRK. In the face of the then reality when the dark clouds of war were hanging over the DPRK by the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppet clique, Jo Ryong Chul, a poet, and Ri Myon Sang, a composer, created the song, with the words and melodies reflecting their strong hatred and will to annihilate the enemy. The song was performed by art organizations including the Korean People's Army Song and Dance Ensemble and was disseminated across the country in a short span of time to resound as a grand chorus as it reflects the love for the precious country and the burning hatred for the enemy. When the U.S. imperialists ignited a war of aggression against the DPRK, many sons and daughters of the country volunteered to the front, bearing in mind the words of the song that the DPRK will prosper forever by bringing down the enemy with the bayonet of justice. They unhesitatingly devoted their youth and lives to the battle sites for annihilating the enemy. Whenever the destiny of the country and nation was at stake due to the U.S. imperialists' ceaseless provocations for decades, the service personnel, people and youth of the DPRK more firmly held the bayonet to annihilate the enemy, singing the wartime song "Song of National Defence", and volunteered to join and rejoin the KPA. Much water has flowed under the bridge and generations have replaced with another, but "Song of National Defence" and other wartime songs are leading to eternal victory the Korean people who have turned out in socialist construction and confrontation with the U.S. bearing deep in mind the fighting spirit of the victorious wartime generations. |
