Steps Taken to Bring about Fundamental Change in Agricultural Production
Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- True to the resolutions of the 8th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials of the Agricultural Commission and all provincial, city and county agricultural guidance organs have made strenuous efforts to bring about a radical change in agricultural production through scientific farming operation and command.

They are taking practical measures for rapidly overcoming the deviations revealed in the course of carrying out each farming process in the first half of the year and for this year's cereal production and sustained and long-term development of agriculture.

The Agricultural Commission and provincial, city and county agricultural guidance organs are striving to work out a scientific plan for every farming process for the second half of the year and properly carry it out.

They also pay attention to taking practical and scientific steps for raising the production of livestock, fruit and vegetables.

They have paid due attention to doing farming well this year and making preparations for concluding farming in a responsible manner.

Practical measures are taken to dynamically push forward with the work for sustained and long-term development of agriculture.

On the basis of experience gained in the irrigation project for this year, priority is given to the designing for the area to be irrigated next year and the manufacture of necessary equipment to ensure the quality of irrigation construction.

Getting brisk is the work to attain the goal of tideland reclamation, set forth by the Party, and decisively raise the proportion of mechanization in farm work through massive production of cultivators.

Discussed in depth are the measures for establishing an optimized system of agricultural guidance and management suited to the specific conditions of the country and achieving the grain production goal in the relevant areas.
