Present there were Premier Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, Pak Jong Gun, vice-premier of the Cabinet and chairman of the State Planning Commission, Yang Sung Ho, vice-premier of the Cabinet, Ri Yong Sik, chief secretary of the Cabinet Party Committee, and members and alternate members of the Cabinet Party Committee. Attending it as observers were officials concerned.

The meeting analyzed and reviewed in detail the work for implementing the resolutions of the 6th and 7th plenary meetings of the 8th WPK Central Committee in the first half of the year, and discussed the measures for carrying out the policy-oriented tasks set forth before the Cabinet and state and economic organs on the basis of the important fighting guidelines adopted and indicated by the 8th Plenary Meeting of the 8th WPK Central Committee.

A report was made at the meeting.

The reporter said that officials and workers in various fields of the national economy have made precious successes by dynamically pushing ahead with the work to lay a decisive guarantee for the fulfillment of the five-year plan, true to the resolutions of the plenary meetings of the Party Central Committee.

The meeting analyzed and reviewed in detail the shortcomings and causes revealed in implementing the Party's economic tasks and took measures to overcome them at an early date.

It stressed the need to conduct proper farming operation and command with the main emphasis on successfully attaining the goal of grain production set forth by the Party and to dynamically conduct the work for sustainable and long-term development of agriculture.

It discussed the important issues of eliminating the unstable fluctuations in major industrial sectors and increasing the growth rate of production in the overall economy by establishing strict discipline of unconditionally carrying out the national economic plan and ensuring in an effective way the work to lay an independent foundation of the economy.

It discussed in detail the practical measures for the Party organizations of ministries and national institutions to dynamically conduct the organizational and political work for establishing planning discipline and ensuring the implementation of the Party resolutions with scientific figures.

It stressed the need to complete the on-going reinforcement and modernization projects without fail and carry out the Party's resolutions at any cost by pushing ahead with the projects for this year as scheduled through proper operation and command at all construction headquarters.

Brought up for discussion were the ways for successfully resolving the pending sci-tech problems in boosting the economic work and stabilizing and improving the people's living standard.

The meeting took measures for supplying dairy products to the children of nurseries and kindergartens on a regular basis.

It discussed the issue of pushing forward with the land administration and the ecological environmental protection in a long-term and development-oriented way and providing the citizens in the capital city with cleaner living environment, the issue of developing fruit farming, livestock farming and fishing industry, the issue of improving the commercial service, the issue of promoting the updating of regional industrial factories across the country, etc.

The meeting called for enhancing the functions and role of the party organizations and fully displaying the fighting efficiency and activeness in implementing the state and economic policies.

The meeting held consultative meetings of different panels for thoroughly implementing the fighting tasks for the second half of the year set forth at the 8th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Party Central Committee and adopted a relevant resolution.
