The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un set forth the great programme for readjusting and reinforcing the irrigation system of the country and further perfecting it, regarding the irrigation in rural economy as an important strategic task, at major party meetings.

True to the intention of the Party, the builders turned out in the drive for implementing the Party's idea and defending its policies and successfully built the Chongchongang-Phyongnam irrigation waterway as a monumental edifice in the era of the Workers' Party in the spirit of self-reliance.

The completion of another irrigation system enables the increase in grain production as it provides vital water to the Yoldusamcholli Plain, which is vibrant with the implementation of the revolutionary programme for the rural revolution in the new era. It also adds beauty to the scenery of the area around Lake Yonphung, providing treasure of eternal value conducive to the economic development and the improvement of the people's living.

Premier Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, Ju Chol Gyu, vice-premier of the Cabinet and chairman of the Agricultural Commission, and officials concerned went round various parts of the irrigation waterway on Thursday.

Kim Tok Hun congratulated the waterway builders who performed labor feats and stressed the need to ensure the operation of the waterway in a scientific and technological way, declaring the completion of the waterway project.
