A poet, Sok Kwang Hui, repulsed the enemy attacks with soldiers in the same trench and saw brave soldiers die a heroic death in battle. Under a shower of bullets, he recorded in his pocketbook what soldiers said in battle, so as to write the words of the song "To a Decisive Battle".

Another poet, Choe Ro Sa, wrote the lyrics for the song "At the Spring Site" to vividly depict a deep affection between the army and the people during the war.

Kim Ok Song, a composer who shared life and death with soldiers, set to music famous songs such as "My Song in the Trench" to represent the noble mental and moral world of soldiers. He composed the passionate music for the song "To a Decisive Battle", rushing towards the enemy's position with soldiers under the shower of bullets. And on Height 1,211, he put down the notes and symbols of the song "My Song in the Trench" on the music paper on a hand-grenade box.

Another composer, Ri Myon Sang, created the melody of the song "The Dear Home in My Native Village" on a battle hill and also the beautiful melodies of the songs "The 2,000-ri Amnok River" and "Song of Spring", seeing the looks of people who were optimistic about the victory in the war even under a shower of bullets.

Pak Han Gyu, a composer who was deeply moved by the heroic feats of brave soldiers on Wolmi Islet, composed the dynamic music for "Song of Coast Artillerymen" after seeing soldiers of a coastal artillery battery firing guns in battle.

And many other writers and composers created famous lyrics and melodies making soldiers and people fully display their warm patriotism and indomitable spiritual strength in life-and-death battles to contribute to the victory in the war.

The wartime songs, produced in those days, are still implanting the fighting spirit of heroic soldiers of the 1950s in the DPRK people who have turned out in the anti-imperialist, anti-U.S. showdown and the general onward march for bringing about a fresh turn in socialist construction, firmly united around the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.
