Struggle for Protecting Crops from Possible Disaster
Pyongyang, July 1 (KCNA) -- Organizations at all levels of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea are actively arousing the masses to the struggle to overcome the effect of disastrous abnormal weather and provide a sure guarantee for attaining the goal of grain production for this year.

The union organizations in South Hwanghae Province have taken steps to prevent damage by heavy rain while pushing ahead with the immediate farming processes.

Those in North Hamgyong Province made a detailed survey of farm fields vulnerable to flood and rainstorm and launched a campaign for cleaning canals and ditches and making furrows.

Those of North Phyongan Province successfully carried out the project for repairing drainage canals in 300 hectares of paddy fields in a few days.

Officials of the union in Huichon City of Jagang Province are methodologically conducting the work to inform farmers of the scientific and technological ways for preventing land loss and damage by strong wind and ensuring the conditions for the growth of crops.

The union organizations in North Hwanghae Province have taken all possible measures against damage by abnormal weather in a far-sighted way while directing efforts to making full preparations for the mobilization of drainage facilities including drainage water pumps.
