The meetings analyzed and reviewed in detail the work conducted in the first half of the year to implement the resolutions of the 6th and 7th Plenary Meetings of the 8th WPK Central Committee, and decided on the measures for carrying through the tasks set forth at the 8th Plenary Meeting of the 8th WPK Central Committee.

The plenary meeting of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Railways discussed measures to timely transport the materials needed in major theaters of socialist construction.

The plenary meeting of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Land and Maritime Transport discussed the measures to improve the technical condition of equipment and boost the transport capacity and thus lay a decisive guarantee for the fulfillment of the five-year plan for national economic development and contribute to attaining the grain production goal for this year.

The plenary meeting of the Party Committee of the Pyongyang Construction Commission referred to the ways for taking thoroughgoing measures for the supply of building materials this year, pushing ahead with the construction projects as scheduled while perfectly ensuring the quality of construction and rendering material and technical assistance to the construction of a new street in the Sopho area of Pyongyang Municipality.

The plenary meeting of the Party Committee of the State Academy of Sciences discussed the ways for preparing scientists and technicians as revolutionary and patriotic persons and thus solving the scientific and technological problems arising in the implementation of the programme for rural revolution in the new era, the development of the self-supporting economy and the improvement of the people's standard of living.

The plenary meetings of the Party committees of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports discussed the measures for creating more masterpieces powerfully arousing the Party members and other working people to the all-people advance and further developing the country's sports technique and training talented sportspersons in a big way.

The plenary meetings stressed the need to enhance the fighting efficiency and activity of the Party organizations, further strengthen the Party discipline and steadily improve the forms and methods of ideological work in order to successfully carry out the revolutionary tasks set forth by the Party.
