Measures Taken to Minimize Flood Damage in DPRK
Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) -- Officials and agricultural workers in North and South Hwanghae provinces of the DPRK are taking thorough agro-technical measures to protect crops from possible flood damage in the rainy season.

South Hwanghae Province has established a power supply system to positively cope with any sudden abnormal weather phenomena, while timely providing accessories and materials needed to keep the drainage pumping stations at full-capacity operation.

The province carried out the second-round cleaning of drainage canals extending over 1,000 kilometers through a public movement.

The North Hwanghae Provincial Rural Economy Committee intensifies the organizational work for frequently grasping the situation of farm fields in cities and counties and timely taking technical measures suited to the growth conditions of crops, in close cooperation with agricultural scientists and researchers.

Scientists and researchers dispatched to cities and counties are providing farmers with theoretical information on the methods of applying nutritive and photosynthetic accelerants, given the low sunshine ratio, high temperature and humidity, to improve the growth of crops.
