Marine Resources Increased in DPRK
Pyongyang, July 8 (KCNA) -- South Hamgyong and North Phyongan provinces of the DPRK have striven to increase marine resources by putting fish farming on a scientific and intensive basis.

Officials and working people of South Hamgyong Province released more than 9 million fries in the sea and rivers.

The Office for Stocking the River Songchon with Fishes raised the survival rate and weight ratio of salmon by producing highly nutritious assorted feed. The Tanchon Office for Stocking the River Namchon with Fishes produced a lot of salmon fries. And Hongwon, Rakwon and other fishery stations made successes in breeding fries of codfish and flatfish.

North Phyongan Province released more than 2.8 million fries this year.

The Thaechon County Mandarin Fish-breeding Farm produced tens of thousands of young mandarins and 300,000 fodder fishes. And the Yomju Youth Fish Farm introduced advanced fish farming method to secure hundreds of thousands of fries including carp, goldfish and Ryongjong fish.

The fish-breeding farms in Tongrim, Nyongbyon, Unsan and Cholsan counties have produced many fries by making spawning places in a good manner.
