He built a combined experimental plot outside his house and deeply studied crops and useful plants. He sowed new rice seeds in a newly-made cold-bed in the spring of Juche 52 (1963) and carefully observed the growth of rice. In August of Juche 53 (1964), he called farmers to his house to inform them in detail about the characteristics of the rice seeds and their cultivation method.

When visiting the then agricultural cooperative in Pyoksong County, he taught the farmers how to overcome the drought damage. In September 1963, he taught the chairwoman of the management board of Ryongo-ri, Mundok County how to increase the per-hectare yield of paddy rice.

The President, who made devoted efforts for farming, taught the farmers a new manuring method in Sukchon and Hamju counties and informed officials of a farm in Sinchon County of the method of consulting the agricultural journal.

When visiting the then Wangjaesan Cooperative Farm in Onsong County of North Hamgyong Province, he taught the farmers a new irrigation method which he personally tested to prove the vitality.

He also visited a farm in the northern part of the country where he measured the water temperature of a paddy field and taught farmers a way to raise the water temperature and even tasted the water of Lake Thaesong flowing into the Chongsan plain to check whether it was salty. And he saw to it that an experimental plot was made at a farm in Samsok District, and conducted cultivation experiments to increase the per-hectare soybean yield for several years and taught farmers advanced soybean cultivation technique. He also told about the method of apple tree pruning suited to its biological characteristics at a consultative meeting of officials in the field of fruit farming. All these stories are associated with the President's devotion for bringing about a radical turn in agricultural production.

In June 1994 when the unprecedented sultry weather persisted, the President visited the Kumdang Farm in Onchon County and set forth in detail the tasks for doing farming well.

The advantageous Korean-style scientific farming method, the great Juche farming method which the President clarified by traveling the long and rugged field paths for the development of the country's agriculture, is fully demonstrating its validity and vitality on every field of the socialist countryside.
