Ri keenly felt sorrow as a stateless nation while serving as a farmhand before Korea's liberation. After the liberation of the country, she had put her heart and soul into farming with a single desire to repay the benevolence of President Kim Il Sung who put forward peasants as masters of land and the country.

She let her children stand at military posts for national defence and work at important sectors for socialist construction. She has striven to give the country what little help she can give even after becoming a pensioner.
