Joint Meeting Marking 70th Anniversary of War Victory Held
Pyongyang, July 22 (KCNA) -- War veterans and officials and members of the Socialist Women's Union of Korea (SWUK) had a joint meeting at the Hall of Women on July 21 to mark the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War.

Present at the meeting were officials of the SWUK and its members in Pyongyang.

At the meeting, Kim Jong Sun, chairwoman of the Central Committee of the SWUK, made a congratulatory speech.

She said that through the joint meeting all the participants would cherish deeper in their mind the honorable mission and duty as successors to firmly carry forward the baton of the victorious wartime generation, extending her gratitude to the war veterans who brought about a legendary era of heroes to be immortal in history and created the noble fighting spirit to be unchangeable forever.

The art squad of the C.C., SWUK put choruses "Long Live Generalissimo Kim Il Sung" and "Song of the Korean People's Army" on stage.

Then, Jon Pyong Gi, who went out into the war front with arms in his hand at the age of seventeen, and Choe Yun Guk, who fought at the Guards 6th Infantry Division, took the floor.

They recalled that the Korean People's Army soldiers displayed their ardent patriotism, matchless bravery and heroic spirit of self-sacrifice to the full in the battles for defeating the U.S. imperialist aggressors and defending the country.

Wartime song "My Song in the Trench" sung by Pak Pong Won, a war veteran, touched the hearts of participants.

Kim Jom Sun, a war veteran who was called an "oriole" at the front, said that the songs sung by war artistes in the fierce Fatherland Liberation War instilled the confidence in sure victory and optimism into the mind of the KPA soldiers and the people.

Ryu Hung Nyo, a war veteran, asked all the women's union officials and members to glorify the honor of woman revolutionary truly contributing to the prosperity and development of the socialist motherland while remaining loyal to the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

Officials and members of the women's union expressed their will to carry forward generation after generation the valuable tradition of victory and the noble spirit that the defenders of the country in the 1950s created in the thick of battles.
