Steps Taken in DPRK to Protect Farm Crops from Heat Wave and Downpour
Pyongyang, July 23 (KCNA) -- In hearty response to the resolutions of the plenary meetings of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, rural areas in North Phyongan Province and Kaesong Municipality of the DPRK are taking agricultural technical measures to cope with disastrous abnormal weather caused by El Nino.

Agricultural guidance organs at all levels in North Phyongan Province have striven to put the manuring and irrigation on a scientific and technological basis, while directing primary efforts to minimizing damage to the crops by fierce heat.

Farms in Kusong City, Tongrim and Unjon counties and other areas have taken good care of the crops in the second half of their growth after identifying the farm fields vulnerable to fierce heat.

Officials of the Kaesong Municipality Rural Economy Committee, too, have been active on farm fields to properly guide the work for protecting crops from heavy rain and intense heat.

They urge the agricultural management committees and farms in districts and counties to carry out their plans for farming processes without fail and respond to abnormal weather conditions in time.
