Measures Taken to Minimize Crops Damage by Disastrous Abnormal Weather
|Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- The agricultural sector of the DPRK takes thorough measures to minimize the crops damage by El Nino this year.
Taking into full account the possibilities of occurrence of various disasters, the Agricultural Commission takes timely measures in close connection with the State Hydro-meteorological Administration.
The commission informs the farms of prompt and correct agricultural weather forecast through a tele-questioning and answering system for farming techniques so that the farms cope with the disastrous abnormal weather. Meanwhile, it is establishing the system for observing and forecasting harmful insects.
Anak, Paechon and Unchon counties of South Hwanghae Province introduce rational irrigation methods to suit the rice growth condition.
Jongju City and Kwaksan and Unjon counties of North Phyongan Province push forward with the work to enhance the physiological activity of crops by using multi-element mineral fertilizer produced by themselves and to check the root rot.
Similar work has been conducted in Pyongyang Municipality, South Hamgyong, North Hwanghae and South Phyongan provinces.
