The presentation, held on the theme of "Use and prospect of technologies of hydraulic building and land construction", was aimed at contributing to increasing the power production capacity, sprucing up the land and improving the ecological environment by introducing and generalizing the sci-tech achievements made in the work for protecting rivers and coasts from flood and tidal wave and other disastrous abnormal weather, true to the resolutions of the 6th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.

More than 80 papers were published by scientists, technicians, teachers and researchers of Kim Il Sung University, Hamhung University of Hydraulic Engineering, the Hydraulic Engineering Institute of the State Academy of Sciences and other units.

The presentation was held, divided into panels of tidal power construction and river construction. The participants shared and transferred the sci-tech successes and experience gained in the hydraulic building and land construction.

A dredging proposal for increasing flood-passage capacity, a research on the selection of indices for environmental impact assessment in large-scale canal construction, etc. were highly appreciated.
