On June 2, Juche 45 (1956), Chairman Kim Jong Il made sure that schoolchildren went camping in scenic spots of the country and in mountains and streams near their native places during the summer vacation with the aim of consolidating the knowledge they have learned at school and cultivating their independence, creativity and collective spirit.

Hundreds of schoolchildren from across the country are participating in the camping launched during the summer vacation.

Paek Hak Ryong, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the youth league, officials of the youth league and schoolchildren were present at the opening ceremonies held in Hyangsan County of Jagang Province and Myongchon County of North Hamgyong Province.

At the ceremonies the flags of June 2 camping were conferred on campers.

The campers are spending pleasant days, going round scenic spots, historical and cultural relics, etc. in those mountains.
