Pyongyang, August 15 (KCNA) -- Officials of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea (GFTUK) visited the Madusan Revolutionary Battle Site on August 14 on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of national liberation. Among the visitors were Pak In Chol, chairman of the GFTUK Central Committee, officials concerned and trade union officials from Pyongyang and local areas. The Madusan Revolutionary Battle Site fulfilled its mission as a regional leadership base in the western part of Korea during the anti-Japanese armed struggle and as an important military operation base where the headquarters of the revolution was to be located during the final attack operation. It is associated with the undying feats of President Kim Il Sung, the legendary hero of the anti-Japanese war, and the patriotic mettle and breath of the first generation of the revolution who devoted themselves to the sacred war for national liberation. At the room for education through trees bearing slogans in the site, the visitors were briefed on the secret base in the Anju area, built in Juche 27 (1938) under an operational plan of the President, before looking round the slogan-bearing trees discovered in the area. Then they held a recitation of the full-length epic "Mt Paektu". At the poem-reciting meeting, the performers praised the exploits of General of the guerrillas Kim Il Sung, the legendary hero of the anti-Japanese war who mercilessly annihilated the one million-strong army of the Japanese imperialists with his superb tactics during the great anti-Japanese war. |
