Day of Korea's Liberation Celebrated

Pyongyang, August 16 (KCNA) -- The people across the country significantly celebrated the 78th anniversary of Korea's liberation. An endless stream of the people visited the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the sacred temple of Juche, where President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il lie in state, on the occasion of the day of Korea's liberation. The visitors made bows of eternal best wishes to the portraits depicting the smiling images of the peerlessly great men in the sacred place of the sun. The masses laid floral baskets, bouquets and flowers before the statues of the President and the Chairman, portraits depicting their smiling images and mosaics depicting them on Mansu Hill and in other parts of the country. At the Arch of Triumph, visitors recalled that the liberation of the country was a historic victory the President brought about through great national unity, all-people resistance. Working people, service personnel, youth and students visited the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt Taesong. There took place flag-raising ceremonies in different parts of the country. Art performances were given in Pyongyang to rev up the festive atmosphere. Similar performances were given in Jagang, North Hamgyong, South Hamgyong and other provinces. Officials, working people and youth in Nampho Municipality played semi marathon, volleyball, tug of war and other sports games. The working people and schoolchildren spent a pleasant time at the Central Zoo, the Natural History Museum, the Munsu Water Park and other recreation grounds in Pyongyang and other parts of the country. Dancing parties of youth and members of the women's union took place in different parts of the country. |
