The volume contains 53 works including historic talks, speeches and instructions made by Kim Jong Il from June to December Juche 86 (1997).

Some of them comprehensively deal with the outstanding ideological and theoretical exploits of Kim Jong Il who wisely guided the work to firmly preserve the Juche character and national character in the revolution and construction, strengthen in every way the political and military might of the revolutionary army and glorify Korean-style socialism by dint of single-minded unity.

Other works advance the idea for bringing the political and ideological advantages of the People's Army into full play and making thorough preparations for combat and the important tasks for developing the revolutionary army.

Some works indicate the ways for bringing about a turn in socialist economic construction by doing farm work well to solve the acute food problem and by putting the production of all sectors and units on a normal basis and expound the issues to be prioritized in developing the literature and art and sports.

There are also works dealing in an overall way with the theoretical and practical issues arising in the revolutionary struggle, including the issue for building the Three-Revolution Exhibition House to well show the achievements made in the ideological, technological and cultural revolutions, the one for greening of the whole country and some issues arising in the capital city construction.
