Kim Il Sung University produced more than 10,000 portable semiconductor laser plant irradiators and sent them to many farms. And it applied to more than 100,000 hectares of farmland an irrigation method for fertilizing rice fields whose advantage had been proved in practice.

Kim Chaek University of Technology made more than 100 electric impulse water treatment devices effective for increasing rice yield and sent them to several provinces, thus contributing to the growth of crops.

The Botany Institute of the State Academy of Sciences produced hundreds of tons of natural biological activators.

Sariwon Kye Ung Sang University of Agriculture produced hundreds of tons of compound lactobacilli and supplied them to farms across the country.

Pyongyang University of Agriculture introduced a newly-developed high-yield cultivation technology into more than 80 000 hectares of farmland, contributing to the wheat and barley farming for this year.

Other universities and scientific research institutes, too, are directing big efforts to developing and producing various kinds of fertilizers with locally available raw materials and technology and developing new seed disinfectants.
