First Secretary of C.C., Communist Party of Soviet Union Releases Press Statement
Pyongyang, August 27 (KCNA) -- Mojgovoy, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, issued a press statement on Aug. 18 to mark the 22nd anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il's historic visit to the Russian Federation, the 21st anniversary of his visit to the Far Eastern Region and the 12th anniversary of his visit to Siberia and the Far Eastern Region.

The press statement said:

Comrade Kim Jong Il, the great leader of the DPRK, visited Russia in 2001 and adopted the Moscow Declaration.

His visit to Russia was a significant one that laid a reliable foundation for putting the traditional friendly relations between the two countries on a higher stage as required by the new century.

The news that Comrade Kim Jong Il visited the Lenin Mausoleum made a splash in the whole world.

The agreements reached during the visit served as a new milestone in boosting the strategic cooperation between the two countries for ensuring the peace and security in Northeast Asia and the rest of the world.

Comrade Kim Jong Il's visits to the Far Eastern Region of the Russian Federation and to Siberia and Far Eastern Region in 2002 and 2011 were important occasions that promoted the common interests, strengthened mutual cooperation and support, overcame the difficulties encountered and dynamically promoted the overall development of the relations between the two countries.

President of the State Affairs of the DPRK Kim Jong Un's visit to Russia and the summit talks between the two countries in April 2019 are of great historic significance.

We extend solidarity with the Korean people in their struggle to carry out the tasks set forth at the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea.
