On this significant day, the sailors of the Korean People's Army are full of pride and self-confidence as they have won only victories in defending the territorial waters of the country under the leadership of the peerlessly great men.

After the liberation of Korea, President Kim Il Sung energetically led the struggle to found the modern naval force as well as various services of the Korean People's Army (KPA).

In June Juche 35 (1946), he organized the Maritime Security Force (MSF) and chose a site for the Maritime Security Officers Training School to be a mother base for training naval officers.

Later, he named the regular navy, which had been expanded and strengthened with the MSF as a parent body, the "Korean Fleet" and declared the founding of the KPA Navy on August 28, 1949.

During the Fatherland Liberation War, the sailors of the DPRK, who were brought up under his care, performed a military miracle to be specially recorded in the world history of naval warfare by sending to the bottom of the sea the U.S. imperialists' heavy cruiser called a "moving island" and destroying their light cruiser with a few torpedo boats.

In the 1960s, the DPRK seamen captured the U.S. imperialists' armed spy ship Pueblo in the territorial waters of the country, demonstrating the might of the heroic KPA Navy.

The Juche-based naval force had achieved only victories under the leadership of Chairman Kim Jong Il.

Ordinary sailors devotedly protected the slogan-bearing trees, eternal treasure of the revolution, from flames and performed heroic feats as death-defying corps in the sea by displaying the spirit of acting as human bullets and bombs and the self-blasting spirit in the fierce battles against the enemy. Such heroic deeds would have been unthinkable without the faith and will the Chairman implanted in the seamen's mind.

Today the navy of the DPRK is greeting the golden age of its development under the wise guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

Thanks to the energetic guidance and warm loving care of the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un who set forth Korean-style naval tactics while going on voyages in the rough sea together with seamen and has taken warm care of the living conditions of soldiers whenever he visited naval units, the navy of the DPRK has grown stronger into the elite matchless force equipped with all the cutting-edge offensive and defensive capabilities.

Today the sailors of the DPRK are filled with the strong will to win only eternal victory on the road of defending the country by inheriting the fighting spirit displayed by the sailors of the preceding generation, with the pride and honor of holding the respected General Secretary in high esteem as their supreme commander.
