Ryonggang Folklore Park
Pyongyang, September 20 (KCNA) -- In Okdo-ri, Ryonggang County, Nampho Municipality, the DPRK, there is the Ryonggang Folklore Park which shows the history and culture of the Korean nation.

A large number of working people, school youth and children has visited the wonderfully built park.

The park is divided into the historical education section with the house and grave of Kim Ung So, who made great feats in defeating the Japanese invaders during the Imjin Patriotic War, and other historical sites and relics, and the folk amusement section consisting of folk dance site, archery site, ssirum (Korean wrestling) site, seesaw site, etc.

The house of Kim Ung So was listed as national treasure No. 142 and is being preserved in its original state.

President Kim Il Sung visited Okdo-ri in February Juche 59 (1970) and stressed the need to preserve well the house of Kim Ung So, a famous patriotic general during the Imjin Patriotic War.

At the historical education section, the visitors can see historical relics and remains including the pipha-shaped dagger and the narrow bronze dagger which had been widely used on battlefields in the period of Ancient Korea (early 30th century B.C.-108 B.C.), the monument to the mausoleum of King Kwanggaetho in the period of Koguryo (B.C. 277 - A.D. 668), stone lanterns representing architecture in the period of Koryo (918-1392) and the rain gauge associated with wisdom and talents of the Korean people during the feudal Joson dynasty (1392-1910).

There is also a folk village with houses dating back to those periods.

The Ryonggang Folklore Park, another grand open-air museum showing the superiority of the Korean nation, contributes to educating the working people and the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism.
