The respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un personally initiated the construction of the children's hospital and energetically led the work to build it without an equal in the world and named it Okryu Children's Hospital.

On March 21, Juche 103 (2014), he visited the hospital in operation and solved all the problems arising in its management and operation including putting the preventive and curative work on an IT basis, raising the technical and skill levels of medical workers and taking good care of medical equipment.

Over the past decade, the hospital has improved the quality of medical service by developing and actively applying advanced treatment methods and has steadily pushed ahead with the work to put it on an IT basis, thus winning February 16 Science and Technology Prize, Scientific and Technological Innovation Prize and IT model unit certificates at exhibitions and seminars held every year.

A meeting took place on October 4 to mark the founding anniversary of the hospital.
