On October 7, Juche 102 (2013), the General Secretary visited the newly-built Central Mushroom Institute and instructed officials and researchers to vigorously conduct scientific research so as to make the people substantially benefit from it, saying that the duty and role of the institute are very important in thoroughly implementing the behests of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il on turning the country into a country of mushroom.

They bred good varieties of mushroom and developed and produced highly active fungus.

Amid the dynamic work for breeding species of mushroom with high productivity and medicinal value suited to the areas and seasonal conditions of the country, various kinds of mushroom have been introduced into mushroom production units after being registered as national crop varieties.

The researchers succeeded in solving a major problem in cultivation of mushroom.

Various kinds of fungus produced at the institute have been supplied to mushroom production units across the country.

Books on mushroom-cultivation technology written by the institute are popular among people for their detailed knowledge and common knowledge on mushroom.

The institute, which is directing efforts into technical guidance over mushroom production units across the country, developed a tele-mushroom-growing technology dissemination system to give helping hand to experts and working people.
