Present there were Hong Chol Jin, secretary of the Pyongyang Municipal Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, and officials, teaching staff and students of the university.

Kim Sung Chan, president of Kim Il Sung University and minister of Higher Education under the Education Commission, made a report at the meeting.

The reporter noted that Chairman Kim Jong Il personally set the site of apartment houses for educators at picturesque Ryonghung Crossroads and made great efforts to solve the housing problem till the last moments of his life.

He recalled that the respected General Secretary made sure that all problems arising in the construction were settled on a top priority basis and visited the construction site twice to lead the housing construction to be completed at the highest level.

The General Secretary attended the inauguration ceremony of the apartment houses for educators of Kim Il Sung University on October 9, Juche 102 (2013), congratulated the teachers and researchers on moving into new houses and had a photo session with them, the reporter noted, adding:

He sent a letter to the university on its 70th founding anniversary, showing deep care for its work, and bestowed such great benevolence as providing teachers and researchers of the university with modern apartment houses in Ryomyong Street.

The reporter called upon all the officials, teaching staff and students of the university to successfully attain the goals for this year, bearing in mind once again its position and mission and thus make a positive contribution to realizing the Party's plan for building an educational power and a talent power.
