In December Juche 103 (2014), he visited the Pyongyang Catfish Farm. Saying that the farm is a patriotic legacy left by Chairman Kim Jong Il for the people, he set forth the task for radically increasing the catfish production true to his last behest. It is the Party's determination to turn the farm into a model and standard one in the field of fish farming of the country, he said, giving precious instructions for it and solving all problems arising in modernization.

In October 2015 he visited the remodeled Pyongyang Catfish Farm and said with great pleasure that the farm changed beyond recognition within a year and that another wealth was provided to contribute to the improvement of the people's dietary life.

He stressed that such modern catfish farms like the Pyongyang Catfish Farm, which was put on a scientific, intensive and industrial basis of high level, should be built in provinces and the production of catfish should be increased decisively through a brisk socialist emulation among the farms to make the people benefit from them.

True to his noble intention, officials and employees of the Pyongyang Catfish Farm have introduced tens of technical innovations into production, including breeding of high-yielding species of catfish and scientific hatching method, to raise the catfish output.

The farm is supplying catfish to commercial and catering establishments in the capital city.
