Learning about the operation of oxygen heat blast furnace and a new project for putting the production processes on a Juche basis at the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, a grand base of the metallurgical industry in the northern part of the country, the premier said that officials, scientists, technicians and workers should further perfect the iron- and steel-making technology based on domestic raw materials and fuel and boost the production of iron and steel to contribute to victoriously concluding this year of key importance in the implementation of the five-year plan.

Acquainting himself in detail with the project for expanding the capacity of the Chongjin Steel Plant which is consolidating the foundation for increased production of Juche iron, he stressed the need to ensure the quality of construction.

Encouraging the workers of the Ryongsong Machine Complex and the Ranam Coal-mining Machine Factory who are devoting themselves to the implementation of the Party's resolution, he called for making substantial successes in the manufacture of custom-built equipment, which are of weighty significance in the development of the self-supporting economy, and boosting the processing capacity to produce more high-performance machines and equipment.

The premier also went round the Sinpho Fishery Station, the Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm and the Jungphyong Greenhouse Farm, stressing the need for their officials and employees to fulfill their responsibility and duty in making the people get benefit by producing much more fish and vegetables, true to the noble intention of the Party for the people.

Meanwhile, Kim Tok Hun visited the food administration stations and farms in Hamhung, Sinpho and Chongjin cities, and Hongwon, Kyongsong and Orang counties to call for correctly implementing the state measures for supplying food to the inhabitants and purchasing cereals.

The field consultative meetings discussed such issues as the issue for thoroughly ensuring in a scientific and technological way the project for putting the production processes on a Juche basis, the issue for further strengthening the production ties among units in the machine-building industry and improving the quality of products, the issue for making full preparations for winter fishing and the issue for further perfecting the cylindrical vegetable cultivation device whose advantages have been proved through experimental cultivation and took relevant measures.
