Rodong Sinmun Comments on U.S. Military Moves

Pyongyang, December 13 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Wednesday in a commentary lashes out at the U.S. moves for strengthening military nexus with Japan and Australia. From Dec. 4, the U.S., Japan and Australia staged a large-scale command post drill codenamed "Yamasakura" in the camp of Japan's Ground "Self-Defense Force", the commentary says, and goes on: This annual drill, started by the U.S. army and Japan's GSDF in 1982, is the largest-ever joint military exercises aimed at mastering the procedures and capabilities for joint counteraction in case of emergency. The Australian army took part in the drill for the first time in history. Australia had been involved in the "Yamasakura" drill as an observer, but it is unprecedented for its forces to directly take part in the drill. All these moves are a dangerous act of escalating tension in the Asia-Pacific region as they are pursuant to the U.S. scenario to further strengthen the military nexus with Japan and Australia. The U.S. has recently put spurs to the military nexus with Japan and Australia as well as the triangular military alliance with Japan and puppet south Korea. It is the U.S. sinister intention to use Japan and Australia, which are members of the QUAD and in "quasi-ally" relationship, as a shock brigade in carrying out its strategy for dominating Asia-Pacific by more thoroughly binding them into the framework of the military alliance. Its aim in general is to establish a broader alliance involving more countries under the signboard of "ally diplomacy" and thus take an absolute upper-hand of strength in the region. The U.S. aggression and hegemonic moves for strengthened alliance are the root cause of aggravating the regional tension. If an unpredictable clash breaks out in the Asia-Pacific region around the Korean peninsula, the blame for it will be entirely on the U.S. |
