Progress Made in Metal Industry of DPRK
Pyongyang, December 17 (KCNA) -- Different mines, factories and enterprises in the metal industry of the DPRK have made remarkable progress this year by directing efforts to strengthening the production foundation with self-reliance and science and technology as a main driving force.

Officials of the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry paid primary attention to the readjustment and reinforcement of supply units and provided scientific guidance on this work.

The Musan Mining Complex developed and produced parts and plastic bearings of heavy trucks, finished the overhaul of the long-range belt conveyor with a distance of over 10,000 meters in a short span of time and installed several cone crushers to increase the production capacity.

The workers at the Unryul Mine finished the production of thousands of sleepers ahead of schedule and built the Sohaeri Branch Mine in the west coastal area with abundant magnetite.

The technology group of the Posan Iron Works boosted the production by establishing a rational operation method of the revolving furnace for Juche iron, and technicians and skilled workers repaired the furnace in a responsible manner with main stress put on increasing its working days.

The Hungnam Electrode Factory introduced efficient dust arrester and increased modern equipment to significantly reduce the consumption of raw materials and improve the processing capacity and repaired several kilns.

Officials and miners of Jangsan and Ramjong mines and other fireproof material production units, too, conducted a technical innovation movement for the maintenance and reinforcement.
