Born into a fire-field peasant's family in a foreign land, Ri Jung Hup had to undergo the sorrow of a stateless nation before Korea's liberation. It was after the country's liberation that he could lead a worthwhile life.

During the last Fatherland Liberation War, he joined the People's Army and performed merits in the Raktong River-crossing battle and other battles. And he had devoted himself to the sacred struggle for defending the leader, system and people in the periods of postwar reconstruction and socialist construction.

The respected General Secretary invited him to the national conferences of war veterans to add glory to the life of the victorious wartime generation.

Ri told his descendants to work harder to defend and add luster to everything dear to this land, saying that the Korean-style socialist system is the best in the world.

Officials of the Tongrim County Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and villagers shared joy with his family and relatives.
