As the tannery was turned into a modern and comprehensive factory in all its production processes and environment ranging from feeding to finishing, another modern light industrial base which is substantially conducive to improving the people's standard of living was established.

An inauguration ceremony took place on December 21.

Present there were Ri Il Hwan, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), Han Kwang Sang, department director of the WPK Central Committee, Ri Song Hak, vice-premier of the Cabinet, officials concerned, officials and employees of the tannery and teachers and researchers of various universities who contributed to the remodeling of the tannery.

Kim Chang Sok, minister of Light Industry, made an inauguration address.
