29th Plenary Meeting of 14th SPA Standing Committee of DPRK Held
Pyongyang, December 22 (KCNA) -- The 29th Plenary Meeting of the 14th Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA) of the DPRK took place at the Mansudae Assembly Hall on December 21.

Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the C.C., Workers' Party of Korea, first vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and chairman of the SPA Standing Committee, presided over the plenary meeting.

Present there were Vice-Chairmen Kang Yun Sok and Kim Ho Chol, Secretary General Ko Kil Son and other members of the SPA Standing Committee.

Officials concerned of the SPA Standing Committee, the Secretariat of the Cabinet, ministries and national institutions were on hand as observers.

The plenary meeting discussed the issue of convening the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK and the issues of examining and adopting the law on supporting education and the law on organizing and operating neighbourhood unit.

First of all, a decision of the SPA Standing Committee on convening the 10th Session of the 14th Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK was adopted with unanimous approbation.

Then, there was a report on the basic contents of relevant draft laws examined at the SPA Legislation Committee.

The law on supporting education stipulates the legal requirements for establishing the system and order of supporting the educational sector and the social climate of actively supporting educational work across the country. The law on organizing and operating the neighbourhood unit specifies the principled issues arising in building every neighbourhood unit into a large harmonious family.

The plenary meeting studied and deliberated the agenda items, and adopted the decrees of the SPA Standing Committee with unanimous approbation: "On the Adoption of the Law of the DPRK on Supporting Education" and "On the Adoption of the Law of the DPRK on Organizing and Operating Neighbourhood Unit".
