The complex is a powerful construction unit, organized by President Kim Il Sung on December 21, Juche 62 (1973) with a far-reaching plan to turn the Namhung area into a large chemical industrial base, and a meritorious group that has played an important role in the industrial construction for strengthening the independent foundation of the national economy.

For the recent ten years alone, the complex has performed labor feats in the construction of more than 20 major projects including the construction of cascade power stations along the River Chongchon, the construction of a nutrient solution factory at the Sunchon Chemical Complex and the construction of a crystal mirabilite production process at the December 5 Youth Mine.

A meeting was held on Dec. 22 to convey a congratulatory message from the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea to the workers, technicians and officials of the Chemical Construction Complex on its 50th founding anniversary.

Present there were O Su Yong, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, So Jong Jin, minister of Construction and Building-Materials Industry, Kim Jong Nam, secretary of the South Phyongan Provincial Committee of the WPK, and employees of the complex.

O Su Yong handed over the congratulatory message of the WPK Central Committee to the workers, technicians and officials of the complex.

The WPK Central Committee in its congratulatory message highly appreciated the workers, technicians and officials of the complex who have fully demonstrated the prestige and honor of the powerful construction unit in the gigantic theaters of socialist construction, and extended warm encouragement to them.
