The chief cabinet secretary of Japan said that "NATO is a trustworthy essential partner", calling for strengthened cooperation with it for "free and open Indo-Pacific". In fact, Japan made public a joint statement with NATO early in the year and has frequently conducted military drills with its member states. Days ago, the "Self-Defense Forces" performed a landing operation drill with U.S. troops in Kagoshima Prefecture.

Behind such movement is the U.S. seeking to seize hegemony over the region through the formation of "Asian version of NATO, and this is an undeniable stark reality, Rodong Sinmun says in a commentary Monday, and goes on:

The U.S. wants the SDF to be its proxy that can be deployed anywhere anytime to stand against regional powers according to its plan.

To this end, it is considering linking Japan with NATO utterly while ratcheting up its military alliance with it.

Meanwhile, Japan is trying to turn itself into a military giant and realize its wild ambition for reinvasion by riding on the back of such a U.S. strategy. That's why it keeps on taking issue whatever the DPRK and China have done to build up their defense capabilities, while trumpeting about strengthened military cooperation with NATO. Japan's intention is to realize its old dream of the "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere" by containing the surrounding countries at any cost on the back of the U.S. and even with the help of NATO, a war tool.

The Japanese reactionaries preoccupied with the ambition for reinvasion would be well advised to think twice about what consequences their pipedream would bring to them.

Joining hands with NATO will end up in self-destruction.
