President Kim Il Sung saw to it that the then North Hamgyong Provincial Designing Office was founded in December Juche 42 (1953), and developed it into a reliable designing research base conducive to the economic development of the province and the improvement of its people's living standard.

Chairman Kim Jong Il energetically guided the institute while solving problems one by one arising in designing the Wangjaesan Grand Monument, the Chongjin Stadium, and other construction projects.

The 70-year history of the institute is further shining thanks to the outstanding and seasoned guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who is ushering in a great heyday of construction in the era of the Workers' Party on the land of the country.

A meeting took place on Dec. 24 to mark the 70th founding anniversary of the institute.
