For the past decade, the officials and scientists of the academy have made many valuable research achievements conducive to increasing the might of the self-supporting national economy and improving the people's standard of living.

Its scientists fulfilled their responsibility and duty in resolving sci-tech problems needed to establish a highly modernized model production system, realize the domestic supply and production of raw and other materials and equipment and perfect the self-supporting economic structure at industrial establishments in various economic sectors.

Scientists of its various branches and institutes bred good strains of crops that will help farmers reap bumper harvests and made sci-tech achievements of great significance in stockbreeding, fish farming, fruit farming and consumer goods production.

Thanks to the devoted efforts of scientists at the Mechanical Engineering Institute, the Mathematics Research Institute and the Mechanical Institute of the academy, valuable successes were made in scientific researches of IT, nanotechnology, bioengineering, mathematics, mechanics and physics.

Last year the State Academy of Sciences carried out hundreds of sci-tech tasks, including the establishment of Korean-style crystal mirabilite production process and an energy-saving production process of weighty significance in solving the fertilizer problem, and thus ensured the implementation of the resolutions of the plenary meetings of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.
