Practical steps have been taken to increase the production of concrete sleepers, railway fixtures and railway ballast, repair railway structures and raise the proportion of mechanization in railway work by revitalizing the production at railway factories including the Sungho Concrete Sleeper Factory and the Rahung Concrete Sleeper Factory.

The work is also going on to increase the number of locomotives and passenger and freight cars, improve their performance and put railway operation and management on a scientific basis.

The ministry has taken measures to ensure the timely supply of locomotives and wagons and manage and operate rolling-stock in a unified way.

It is pushing ahead with the work to improve the technical condition of vehicles by properly establishing the technical inspection system and perfect the train position tracking system and vehicle identification system while expanding and introducing the integrated transport management system in a planned way.

The railway construction project and the work to rebuild railway stations are also pushed forward by strengthening cooperation with relevant units.

The ministry also draws up innovative plans to ensure the safety of train service.
