First Performance of Art Festival Given
Pyongyang, February 13 (KCNA) -- The 2nd People's Art Festival in celebration of the Day of the Shining Star opened in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, to mark the 82nd birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il. Its first performance was given on February 12.

Among the audience were officials of ministries and national institutions and working people, youth and students in Pyongyang.

Taking part in the festival are artistes of provincial art troupes and art squads and officials and working people of ministries, national institutions, industrial establishments and farms. They put on the stage the monumental hymns and famous songs of the times, in reflection of the pledge to glorify forever the revolutionary career and exploits of the peerlessly great man and dynamically open up a new era of great change and a wide avenue for overall national prosperity under the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

Art performances were given by art troupes of North Hwanghae and Jagang provinces at the Ponghwa Art Theatre.

The art squad of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League gave a performance at the Central Youth Hall.

The itinerant art squads of the Pyongyang Kim Jong Suk Textile Mill and Suan County gave performances at the Central Hall of Workers.

A joint performance by art groups from ministries and national institutions was given at the People's Palace of Culture to rev up the festive mood of February.

Performances were given at the Pyongyang Grand Theatre and the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre by art groups from the Pukchang Thermal Power Complex, the Ryongchon Farm in Wonsan City, the February 8 Vinalon Complex and the Pyongyang Youth Passenger Train Crew.

The performances were acclaimed by the audience.

Meanwhile, a magic festival by experts and amateurs at the magic theatre of the National Acrobatic Troupe stirred up the festive atmosphere.
