Int'l Women's Day Marked in DPRK
Pyongyang, March 9 (KCNA) -- The 114th anniversary of March 8 International Women's Day was significantly celebrated in the DPRK.

At the plaza of the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the sacred temple of Juche where President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il lie in state, the visitors recollected once again the benevolence of the great leaders who gave birth to the Juche-oriented women's movement and provided the Korean women with a dignified and happy life with the politics of attaching importance to the women.

Many citizens visited the statues of the President and the Chairman on Mansu Hill and in other parts of the country to pay floral tribute to them.

Officials of all provinces, cities, counties, institutions, industrial establishments and farms visited and congratulated exemplary women workers of the relevant units.

Colorful congratulatory performances and amusement games were held across the country to rev up the festive mood.

A concert was given by the National Symphony Orchestra at the Moranbong Theatre, and a music and dance performance by the Mansudae Art Troupe at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre. And a one-act play, "A person I am looking for", was given at the National Theatre and a joint performance by the National Acrobatic Troupe and the National Folk Art Troupe at the Pyongyang Circus Theater.

The art squads of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League, the Workers' Art Group of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea, the art squad of the Ministry of Railways, etc. gave art performances in different parts of the capital city.

Congratulatory performances were given for women in South Phyongan, South Hwanghae and South Hamgyong provinces, Nampho and Kaesong municipalities and other parts of the country.

Officials and members of the women's union across the country spent the holiday with dancing parties and colorful amusement games.

Public catering establishments sincerely served women.

Souvenir and flower shops, etc. across the country were crowded with visitors buying bouquets and flowers for their wives and mothers who have devoted themselves to society, the collective and their families.
