President Kim Il Sung climbed Moran Hill on March 2, Juche 35 (1946), a spring day of the first year after the liberation of Korea, to open up a bright future of the country covered with green woods.

On March 14, 1952 when he attended a plenary meeting of the Taedong county committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, the President gave an instruction on restoring the forests, damaged by brutal bombing of the U.S. imperialists, through a mass movement, kindling the first torch of forest restoration.

Chairman Kim Jong Il set the planting of trees as an important task for land management and clarified the principled issues arising in afforestation through the publication of his famous works "On Bringing About a Fresh Change in Land Management" and "Let Us Build Our Country into a Beautiful Land of the Age of the Workers' Party through Effective Forest and Water Conservation".

He also saw to it that a law on forest was adopted, and visited many units including the Ogasan Nature Reserve and a nursery under the Riwon County Forestry Management Office to put forward the ordinary working people devoting themselves to the creation of green woods as patriots and heroes of the times.

In November 2014 when he visited the Central Tree Nursery under the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection, the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un appealed to all Party members and other people and service personnel to go all out for a forest restoration campaign, regarding it as a campaign to conserve nature just like the whole country rose from the ashes in the period of postwar reconstruction.

On February 26, 2015, he made public his work "Let the Entire Party, the Whole Army and All the People Conduct a Vigorous Forest Restoration Campaign to Cover the Mountains of the Country with Green Woods" to provide important guidelines for the victory in the forest restoration campaign.

Modern tree nurseries have been built across the country under his wise guidance to contribute to covering it with trees and flowers.

Under his meticulous guidance, the appearance of the country undergoes daily changes as befitting the prestige of a powerful country.
