Rodong Sinmun Marks Tree-planting Day
Pyongyang, March 14 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Thursday dedicated an editorial to the tree-planting day.

On March 14, Juche 41 (1952), President Kim Il Sung called for planting many trees through a mass campaign, taking to heart the fact that many forests in the country were burned owing to the U.S. imperialists' barbarous bombing. Consequently, an epochal turn was brought about in the tree-planting movement and forest restoration.

Recalling this fact, the editorial says:

The respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un made public such famous works as "Let the Entire Party, the Whole Army and All the People Conduct a Vigorous Forest Restoration Campaign to Cover the Mountains of the Country with Green Woods" to clearly indicate the principled issues arising in planting trees and afforestation.

Under his wise guidance, modern tree nurseries have been built in different parts of the country and a big stride made in the struggle to turn all the mountains of the country into treasure mountains and gold mountains, with other meaningful and precious successes achieved in the tree-planting and afforestation.

Fast-growing trees of high economic value should be massively planted to ensure the attainment of the 12 major goals for this year, open up a sure prospect for the sustained production of timber and create such forests of raw materials for regional industry as forests of oil- and wild fruit-bearing trees as part of the work to implement the Regional Development 20×10 Policy newly clarified by the Workers' Party of Korea.

The editorial calls upon all the people to fulfill their duties as citizens of the DPRK in the sacred struggle to make the mountains and rivers of the country greener by devoting their sweat and passion to tree planting out of ardent patriotism.

On the same day, Minju Joson in an editorial stresses that it is an important work for the country's prosperity and the people's happiness to cover the mountains of the country with green woods.
