The residential district, called Kyongru-dong of Central District, is a place provided by the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un for working people including labor innovators and meritorious persons of different fields, scientists, educators and writers who are devotedly serving the Workers' Party of Korea and the state.

On March 25, Juche 110 (2021), the General Secretary formulated a plan to newly build a terraced district in the riverside around the Pothong Gate and went round the place.

After making a meaningful speech at the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 10 000 flats in Pyongyang Municipality only a few days ago, he came to the spot to build the riverside terraced district.

That day he called for forming modern terraced apartments along the scenic Pothong River running through the capital city and arranging multi-storey and low-storey apartment houses in a harmonious way to change the area in a peculiar way.

He stressed the need for the Party Central Committee to push ahead with the construction project and complete it within that year. He personally examined many blueprints and settled all problems arising in the construction.

Thanks to his energetic guidance, a luxury-housing district for the working people appeared at the best place on the bank of the Pothong River in the heart of the capital city in one year.
