Pyongyang, April 7 (KCNA) -- Officials and working people across the DPRK are making successes in building reservoirs and expanding their capacity. Officials of the Ministry of Urban Management and relevant units are conducting meticulous operation and guidance for building reservoirs and expanding their capacity. Pyongyang Municipality has established an integrated management system for comprehensively measuring the production and supply of domestic water at reservoirs, drainage reservoirs and pumping stations in close relation with various units, while providing flow meters and water gauges. After completing the technical assignments for establishing flocculant grouting process and updating disinfection process in reservoirs, it is pushing ahead with the projects for overhauling drainage reservoirs and purification plants. Officials and workers of the Pyongyang Municipal Water Supply and Sewerage Management Bureau are hastening the project for expanding reservoirs by keeping heavy machines and vehicles at full-capacity operation. Provinces are also making achievements in building reservoirs and expanding their capacity. South Phyongan Province newly built a filter basin and settling pond with a capacity of 15,000 cubic meters to supply domestic water to inhabitants in a gravity-fed way and dug a 900-meter-long waterway tunnel to improve the capacity for domestic water. South Hwanghae Province has pushed ahead with the project in a planned way by securing cement and blocks needed for the construction of purification plant. North and South Hamgyong and other provinces have completed the excavation of several thousand-meter-long pipe network for the construction of water supply pipes and stepped up the construction of drainage reservoirs and pumping stations, while solving problems arising in creating the capacity of reservoirs in a far-sighted way. |
