One day in June Juche 103 (2014), the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un visited the then Jangchon Vegetable Co-op Farm.

Asking what kinds of vegetables were grown and how the system of supplying seeds of greenhouse vegetables was established, he said that the Workers' Party of Korea's call for massive construction of vegetable greenhouses is aimed at supplying the people with such fresh vegetables as cucumber and tomato all the time in winter, too.

He stressed the need to put the greenhouse vegetable cultivation on a scientific and intensive basis of high level so as to increase productivity. And he gave an instruction to turn the farm into a model unit for greenhouse vegetable production and a model farm of the country.

Later, he guided the layout for building the Janchon area several times and solved the problems arising in its construction. Under his wise guidance, the farm's appearance was renewed in less than one year.

The Jangchon area was turned into a model for socialist cultural rural construction and a wonderful farm city, which has a house of culture, a pleasure ground arranged with such facilities as volleyball court, swimming pool and roller skate park, modern dwelling houses with a system of supplying methane gas and hundreds of blocks of vegetable greenhouses.

The Jangchon Vegetable Farm has increased production in recent years by improving the cultivation methods and the fertility of soil and raising the technical and skill levels of agricultural workers.
